"Every woman's success should be an inspiration to another.

We're strongest when we cheer each other on." - Serena Williams

Welcome to PPP UNITE CIC

a dynamic and inspirational women's empowerment organisation. Guided by our core values, we're dedicated to building confidence and raising aspirations, enabling women to utilise their agency for transformative change within their own communities.

About

Our roots are firmly planted in the Black Christian Women's movement. Since 2010, we've hosted the annual PPP (Passion Place & Purpose) Conference, inspiring gatherings consistently attended by over 400 women from the West Midlands region and beyond.

This event provides a platform for unity, inspiration, and sisterhood. However, with each year, we recognise the diverse challenges our attendees face, including loss, grief, abandonment, loneliness, abuse, and more recently, economic challenges, unemployment, and debt.

Thus, PPP Unite CIC was established, growing from our desire to respond to these challenges effectively.

Our mission is to support, educate, upskill, and mitigate the worst impacts of the current economic situation. More importantly, we empower women to take control, enabling them to turn adversity into opportunity

The ARISE Project 2016-2017

The ARISE initiative was implemented under the distinctive "ARISE" branding to set it apart from the well-established "Passion, Place & Purpose" annual conference, fully funded by the West Midlands Police & Crime Commission.

The inaugural ARISE conference and accompanying workshops took place on July 1, 2016, at the Bethel Convention Centre (BCC), drawing an audience of 65 attendees. Notably, we successfully recruited more than 40 women for our Restorative Justice workshops, as well as other programs focused on self-awareness and confidence building, over a 12-month period and included refreshments and crèche services.

On September 17, 2016, the PPP Annual Empowering Women's Conference was held at BCC, attracting 340 women. Restorative Justice held a prominent position during the main conference, with Grace Ononiwu, the Chief Crown Prosecutor of the West Midlands, serving as the keynote speaker. An additional dedicated 2-hour symposium for ARISE participants and interested parties drew over 50 women was held during the Annual Conference after which the women were invited to also join the main PPP Conference.

Through these events, we established valuable connections with local counsellors, law enforcement, women's aid organisations, victims' support groups, debt counsellors, registered social landlords, and other agencies capable of providing essential support services. Our primary achievement was the profiling of the Police & Crime Commissioner's (PCC) Restorative Justice efforts, along with forging partnerships with agencies that could guide women toward further opportunities.

The workshops proved instrumental in helping individual women comprehend how Restorative Justice could benefit their personal and professional lives while boosting their confidence and self-esteem. Participants were able to share their often challenging personal experiences within a supportive and confidential environment.

Attendees at both the PPP and ARISE symposiums had ample opportunities to network with fellow delegates and gain insights from inspirational speakers. Engaging in lively question and answer sessions allowed women to contextualize their own experiences by learning from others.

Our subsequent workshops attendance consistently reached approximately 70% of registered participants. Unfortunately, due to staff-to-child ratio requirements, we were unable to accommodate additional registrations, primarily because of limited crèche availability.

Feedback from the women who engaged in the workshops and attended the PPP Conference has been overwhelmingly positive. We received numerous requests for additional Restorative Justice training, especially if it leads to recognised qualifications and employment or self-employment opportunities. Utilising our analysis results, we were able to offer further support and directed women to the services provided by our partner agencies.
